Fårøysund, north of Bokn.
59°16,28'N 05°24,50'E. Whether you come from the narrow Karmsundet or from Boknasundet or Ognasundet, the archipelago south of the island Høvring emerges as pure revelation. Not a house is to be seen; hardly any sailboats; only this maze of islets that welcomes you. The bumpy islets resemble flooded mountains stretching as grey and green icebergs above the water, trying their best to let their summits look like the highlands, decorated as they are with heather. You can go through this maze without having to worry about foul water, and wherever you try you will find a passage. In a sheltered bay a couple enjoys the sun, naked. The rough yet compassionate Maritornes, casting anchor close by, does not seem to worry them the least. They are in a separate world, Fårøysund to be accurate. Nevertheless, those who like better to stare into new waters are soon tempted by hills and heather. From the high peeks one can keep a lookout to all sides, planning next day's route.
59°17,99’N 05°27,72’E Hamnarholmen. Those who prefer to relax among more people may go northeast, crossing Boknaflæet towards Mjåsundet. Soon you will arrive Hamnarholmen with a nice and spacious guest harbour, partly built by volunteers. Regular “customers” from the work gang may express a certain degree of "ownership", but you'll still be well received.
