Natural harbour, quay, shop,

Summer in Gardsvågen.
59°05,83’N 05°50,46’E. From this bay - Gardsvågen - you can follow great hiking trails along the (south) Talje coastline (see map). You can make fast alongside the quay although the quay is in a miserable shape, you may also swing at anchor or make fast to the rocks north-east in the bay. A visit to the old church is recommended, or you you may prefer to spend an hour or two, exploring the Gard gartneri, a huge marked garden with all kind of flowers (
www.gardgartneri.no) . Eldarvågen has traces from the past, see map. The bay is to some extent exposed to winds from the south.
The bay has changed considerable since I last visited the island. A huge breakwater is built, and the local shop (see map) is closes. All this is due to modern times and the new tunnel, offering connection to Finnøy and the main land.
The quay
The rocks to the north-east are suitable for mooring.
