Rossøysund

Pier / Natural harbour / Sea chart

Foto: A. Kverneland

59.06,720N 05.53,740E. Heading towards Rossøysund, a popular natural harbor south of Fogn. Here you will find a distinctive landscape, shelter except perhaps from north-easterly winds, and free mooring at the pier - if you arrive early.

My friend Johanna runs before the wind, taking the lead with her huge junk rig.

Entrance to the sound from the west may seems unsafe, but is  well marked out.

A stroll on Rossøy is also a nice experience.

The evening sets in.

You can make fast also in the small coves on the opposite shore.

Breakfast in Rossøysund;  "Norwegian Wood" and "Fjordgyn".  If the pier is crowded, please feel free to make fast alongside the other boats.

Suddenly, you are invited into calm waters.

Near the pier, you'll find small beaches where it is nice to swim.

Right above the pier is a field where you can relax in the sun, prepare your dinner on the grill or put up a tent for the night.

Together with his wife Inken, Mark from Germany moved to Norway for one year after they had finished their training as dentists. They stayed. In the Ryfylke fjords, they are now sailing a Nordic Folkboat, named “Norwegian Wood”. Here Mark chatters with his fiend, also from Germany.
